Education: Bachelor of Music, Kenyatta University; ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Clarinet
I have had this wonderful opportunity to make and share music with pupils in the classroom and music festivals; starting at the International School of Kenya in 2010 as the choir accompanist and piano teacher to a full-time Classroom Teacher in St. Andrew’s School in Kenya.
Currently, I teach Years 1 to 6 at IPS, despite having begun my teaching journey with High School students, training and accompanying school choirs at the Annual National Music Festivals. I also spend some time each week with Pre–K children aged 3 and below singing play songs. In addition to teaching, I also play piano at a local church in Mauritius, this has been instrumental in aiding my efforts of learning creole musician.
I am particularly passionate about the role of music education in shaping children’s discipline and its interrelationship with other disciplines. At IPS, I am pleased with the level of enthusiasm music that has been given to music by the entire school community.
Besides teaching, I also take part in yearly piano courses where I can share ideas with other music teachers, performers and enthusiasts.
